How safe is your toothpaste?

How safe is your toothpaste?

Maintaining your dental health is one of the most important tasks we have to undertake in our daily lives. no matter how old you are, you still need your teeth, even elderly people do greatly value the few teeth they still have left in their mouths, so how can we go ahead to maintain our dental hygiene without exposing ourselves to unnecessary risks?

I have been using toothpaste for the last decade and a half, have had no problems whatsoever with it, I brush every morning and evening, its only recently that I have noticed that the toothpaste I have now been using is causing me a few dental issues, when I don’t brush, I am just okay, but after I have brushed, my teeth begin to ache. sometimes I am  forced to brush my teeth without the toothpaste on the brush so that I would avoid the sensitivity that comes with using it. yes you heard me, I brush off food particles from my teeth without using a toothpaste. the problem has become so bad to the point where I have thrown away all my favorite toothpaste brands. when my first one wasn’t going well with me, I changed to another which turned out to be like the first, I went for the third, fourth and fifth, all turned out the same way. so I had no choice but to dump all of them.

Do you know where your toothpaste is manufactured or made? do you know all the ingredients that are added into it? I just read the fine print on the carton box, I continually check on the jurisdiction where it was manufactured and all the chemical compounds mixed into it.

My toothpaste is laced with all these chemical compounds which I am not certain if they are safe or not. it contains the following;

  • Sodium Monofluorophosphate
  • Calcium carbonate
  • Aqua
  • Sorbitol
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulphate
  • Hydrated Silica
  • Arginine
  • Cellulose Gum
  • Sodium Carbonate
  • Benzyl Alcohol
  • Phosphoric Acid
  • Sodium Saccharin
  • Sodium  Bicarbonate

And so many more names that I am having great difficulty tying to pronounce. am surprised that alcohol is also included in the ingredients. no wonder we have so many incurable health issues linked to mysterious causes, are you sure that all these chemicals are good for the human body? just because the regulatory authorities said that they are safe for human consumption doesn’t make them completely safe. I am becoming more conscious of where my products are made, especially ones that get into contact with the human body such as foods, toothpastes and cosmetics, we need to know that the factories where these products are made are located in a safe area and can be inspected by the public for safety issues, we also need to know that all the chemical compounds they mix into those products are one hundred percent safe for human consumption. but we can never be really sure on that because we have no control of what happens in those factories.
